Honey, You're a Keeper
Honey, you're a keeper
You clean up so well
You sing out so clearly
Like an old dinner bell.
I'm a slow walking drifter
But I'll sit a spell
And spin you a yarn
I've a story to tell.
Life can be lonely
Life can be spare
Living without
A love you can share.
I've had my chances
But they slipped away
So I took to the road
I'm traveling today
I'm just a bummer
Peddling wares
In the center of towns
I gather stares.
Then I set out to charm them
Like a showman at fairs
Who plays the accordian
For his dancing bears
Now, I notice you're single
I'll advance you a guess
You were once married
Maybe not to the best.
So you stand on your pride
And look what you've got.
A shed for your chickens
And a cast iron pot.
Life can be lonely
Life can be spare
Living without
A love you can share.
Its fifteen long miles
On the road back to town.
If I can get you to smile
I might stick around.

! love it

am in the midst
of writing a letter

to be a keeper
